Ross and I drove to see the Sparks family recently. We decided to make it a road trip and spend some one on one time together. I told Ross early on that he was the boss on our road trip so what he said was what we did.
He first flexed his boss muscle by saying he wanted cheese dip for dinner. In the town where we spent the night I didn't find a Mexican option except for Taco Bell. He was happy! This was his first Taco Bell experience. After that 4-star meal we got a room for the night. He snuggled up pretty quick to watch a quick cartoon and went to sleep.
Day 2 we got on the road after breakfast very excited to see our friends!
We arrived and they were so happy to see each other!
The first day we were there we went and got Ross a bike. He was so excited! We bought it from a local bike shop and they wanted to check it over before it left the store. We picked it up the next morning and while Danielle was on a call we went for a long bike ride.
Ross got a new helmet that you can draw on so he and McKenna decorated it up.
You would have thought I made them ride all day looking at the aftermath of our neighborhood ride.
After they rested we got them dressed and went to the pool.
After the pool was lunch and then M had a bike-a-thon at school so Ross and I walked home. He wanted a picture with this tree b/c he said it looked like a piece of candy corn. When we got home he played with M's bubble gun.
We took a selfie. (love him!)
He got to ride the pony. He loved it!
Our after dinner treat was s'mores. (Thanks M for the photobomb)
The next morning started with a little boxing in the basement. He was consumed with it the entire visit.
Then we prepared for a trip to a park that had bison and other animals. Then next several pictures are Photography by Ross as we were headed on our excursion.
He specifically wanted Poppy to see the John Deere.
Photography by McKennaAs soon as we got to the park we rode the train.
Ross wanted a picture at every photo op around.
We even got Mrs. D in a one despite her not wanting to participate. Nice placement of the head Mrs. D. Perfect for the ears of the deer.
They loved this bronze horse.I guess M felt it was thirsty.
We ended the excursion with the huge slide.
I was surprised that Ross did it but he went down it more than once!Once we got home and napped the kids played outside. They were digging for spiders or something. Though I feel confident that it probably wasn't spiders.
After dinner we hit up Dairy Queen and the boy was pretty happy about it.
Sunday we headed home. He actually did really well driving the whole day. It was 9.5 hrs with stops. He got a few surprises along the way home. One being a new math Leap Pad game and it kept him busy for a very long time.
It was such a good visit! We'll see them again in October for the Branson trip and Ross can't wait to see M and Mrs. D again.
