Craft fun with Mommy!

On Saturday Ross and I set out to paint glass Jack-O-Lanterns. I saw the project in one of my magazines and thought he'd love it. Below are the supplies needed: acrylic paint, sponge brush, glass jars, masking tape, and the ribbon is optional. I saw a few examples where people made ghosts with white paint. They were really cute too. First you cut out shapes on the tape for the eyes, nose, and mouth. After applying to the jars let the paint fun begin!Concentration mode. Almost done.He had to show me all the paint he got on him.He wanted to hold the 2nd jar and have me take his picture. He really loved this project!Our finished Jack-O-Lanterns. The one on the far right is Ross' first one. I call it the pirate. He got so much paint on one eye that it pulled the tape off. :) It's my favorite.I tried to get a decent picture of what they look like with the lights out. I bought the battery operated tea lights to use instead of actual candles. We already spent forever blowing out the battery operated ones. I can't imagine how many times I'd have relit the tea lights by now.We'll definitely make more very soon!

Happy Birthday to Daddy!

Oct. 3 was Daddy's birthday so we went to Zsa Zsa's after work for dinner and then back home for dessert.

Ross actually took the picture below. He aimed it and everything. He was a lucky dude to get the picture b/c he was all over the place. :<) We finally got Daddy's Piggies and Paws framed. That was his gift from Ross.Once Daddy moved on to opening other presents Ross opted to work his favorite puzzle.Mam celebrated with us too!Dessert was cupcakes from Cupcakes on Kavanaugh - our favorite. I highly recommend trying the Pumpkin Spice. YUM-O! Ross and Daddy both had to have candles.
Even still Ross had to help Daddy blow his candle out too.Tip #1 from Ross: one must eat a cupcake from the top down as the icing is the best part. (Ross doesn't know that I scraped 75% of the icing off his cake. Mean Mommy!)His was a Razorback Red cupcake. He kept showing me his red tongue.All done!
Tip #2 from Ross: wash it down with some ice cold milk.

Busy Weekend!

This past weekend was packed with activities. On Saturday we went to Murfreesboro to visit Granny. Ross gave Granny lots of kisses!We played outside most of the afternoon. He was quite happy when he found the rocks at the end of her driveway. "See my rocks!" I did indeed see them there and in the washing machine. He also got in some tricycle time.On Sunday we went to Meme and Grandad's church for Linwood's 60th anniversary. After the service we had a great meal and more time to play outside! So many people were there including Uncle Kevin and Alex. TWO FIRE TRUCKS! My little Fireman Sam was oh so happy!

YAY - Fall weather has arrived!

As the weather gets nicer and mosquitoes get fewer we are enjoying more play time outside - as I'm sure everyone is! Mostly we play basketball! Such a poser! "Good catch!"He's still a bit short for the goal but he gets the ball in there! Seriously, I'm looking for my 2 yr old - have you seen him? All I see in this picture is a big boy!Works really well if he sits on Daddy's shoulders and plays basketball from there!

Little Chefs (must taste!)

Ross and I made Honey Roasted Garbanzo Beans over the weekend. They were quite tasty except we cooked them too long. First time follow the recipe to learn what NOT to do. :)

My little sous chef especially loved when we added the honey to the mix. "Mommy I need to taste it." "Honey is SO good!"

Birthday time!

Mam's birthday was on Wednesday so we all went to her house Saturday for birthday dinner. It was so nice outside that we played first! A little baseball! (and yes he crushed it!) Next he rode the John Deere down the hill. They've recently gotten to upper portion of their road paved so it makes for some fun to ride the toys down! It goes fast so someone has to stand in front of Ross to slow him down.Uncle Brent pulled Alex down in the wagon. Daddy was helping Ross back up the hill. It is quite steep! Finally made it!Then it was time to ride the tricycle down.A wee bit easier to push him back up since it has the handle on top! Of course I'm saying that not really knowing since I was taking pictures. Hey though I'm pregnant and yes I don't mind playing that card from time to time! :)Just to prove we were there for birthday reasons here is the cake. Note the #2 candle. I forgot candles and it isn't a party without blowing out the candle - just ask Ross! We had to use his birthday candle from this year. Alex wanted to help blow it out too!

Block party and tractors!

On Saturday Kingwood had a block party and we walked down to check it out. One of the first things that attracted Ross was the band!

There were bouncy houses!
One was just for the younger kids which was great! Several vendors were there including Hunka Pie and Hot Dog Mike!Once we finished there we drove to Mam's to see the tractors at their house. She got her driveway paved and the workers left all their cool stuff there for the weekend. He wanted us to get on the tractors with him so Daddy obliged.
