Birthday Party Time!

Ross had his birthday party a few days after his actual birthday. It was a superheroes theme.
I pulled up a few different cake ideas from Pinterest and this was the one he picked out. He loved it! Blue Cake Company never fails us and they taste so good.
The party was at the same jump place we had his 3 yr old party. Such a great party place. Anna Beth LOVED the slides.
Avery did not love the slide. I just knew she would b/c at the SPP company picnic she rode a slide just like it probably 2 dozen times. She rode these twice and that's b/c we just carried her up.
A lot of his friends that have since left Grace and have started Pre-K were able to come and it made his day!
Sweet baby Gavin and Uncle Steve were there.
Of course Poppy and Avery.
Ross and Mam.
Once we played for a while it was time to sing. Ross did his level best to not smile the entire time, to the point of sucking in his cheeks.

Got them all blown out first try.
The cake was a hit by everyone. Lila is always good for a smile and a picture.
Josh - not so much. :)
These were the favor bags. I made the masks. Which, after about 5 of them, I decided I was going to bail on that project but once Ross saw them and tried one on I decided to pick it back up.
18 masks later - 18 happy kids later - I'm glad I stuck with it.
Luke seemed to really like his.
Buddies back together again.
Not the best picture to tell but Avery LOVED the cake. It was all over her face.
After we got home he opened presents. He loved everything.
So did Avery and she decided the boxes made good seats.
We love masks at our house so those will get a lot of play action.

Such a great birthday - I still can't believe he is 5 and starting kindergarten this year. I won't have many fun parties left where the kids will actually be excited over something I've made so I'm glad I stuck with it. It is as special of a memory for me as it is for him - though he'll forget the HOURS I spent preparing for this bday which is why I blog about it. :) Proof I do love him even when he says I don't.

Birthday Cards from Friends

Ross' friends and teachers made him the best cards this year. He was so excited to show them to me.

This is from a teacher. He loved the candle coming out of the 5.
This is from Anna Beth.
This is the inside. He said, "Doesn't she make beautiful rainbows".
From his best buddy Josh.
This was the inside of Josh's card.  I think he loves Ross. :) They are the sweetest.
This is from his teacher - Ms. LeAnn.
From Holdyn. I love her heart.
She did a rainbow too.
This was a card he got from Emma at his birthday party. I love it! It has a rocket, ninja turtle, and a razorback. So cool!
This is the inside with a tractor.
The back with a tree and truck.
I absolutely love seeing things his friends make for him. Such a great group of kids!

Ross got Drums!

We officially lost our minds and got Ross drums for his birthday. He was so excited!!! (He's now requested a trumpet?!?)
Often when he finishes his song he ends it with a dramatic fashion and the sticks go under his arms.
Yes, Avery has to get in on the fun too.
A few videos of him in action.

This is good until the end and she gets his little finger squashed between the drum and the stick. Notice she has to fix her Sofia necklace mid-way through. We can't have it turned around backwards.

Ross Turns 5!

I can't believe our baby is 5 years old! The time has truly flown by and he was so excited!
I love this picture. I asked him to show me his birthday shirt (that I made - blog later). He does this goofy laugh and closes his eyes when he's being silly.
He was getting a really big breath to blow out all 5 candles. We had powdered donuts instead of muffins. They've recently quit eating any muffins I bake so we've moved on to powdered donuts for birthday.
He took one bite and then I asked for a picture with Daddy so he had to stack the donuts back up before the photo op.
A rare Mommy/Ross photo.
Avery loves powdered donut day.
He picked All Aboard for his birthday meal.
Avery started out loving the trains and then all of a sudden out of no where she got scared. Anytime they would start moving to deliver food she immediately freaked out and tried to climb out of her chair. It was the most odd thing.
Silly face with the All Aboard hat.
After dinner we went back home for cupcakes and presents. Ross picked out the cupcakes for each person. His was "hot chocolate", which oddly enough he didn't even take one bite.
He was much too interested in opening presents. He got a Leap Pad from Mam and we got him a game. His big present from us arrived the next day. The nice thing was he didn't even ask about any more presents after having just opened the one.
His birthday pictures from the past 5 years. Happy Birthday Ross - and MANY more!

Christmas with Granny

Our visits with Granny go something like this - we get to her house, change Avery's diaper, Ross goes to the bathroom, and then we go out to eat for lunch. Once we get back to her house Ross takes his shoes off and immediately goes and gets Granny's "grabber thing".
Avery gets that little basket and "Leroy" their Daddy's childhood teddy bear.
We had a good Christmas visit. We even got a couple of pictures with Granny, though we just can't get her to smile in pictures. Ever.
I wish I could remember why Avery was so put out in this picture but there is no telling. Also in every picture of the 4 of them Ross is winking. Absolutely cracks me up.
She's a little happier now it appears. Maybe she was mad that I couldn't hold her b/c I was taking the picture. Maybe she couldn't find all her 'things'. All I do know is that in the future if a camera is going to be taken on our trip I need to wear make-up.
