First Razorback Football Game

Ross got to go to his first Razorback football game on 9/7. I'm not sure who was more excited, him or his Daddy. It was hot so I was glad it wasn't me going.

She and I had a fun girls' night. We played, shared a Lean Cuisine, and watched Sofia the First.

 

p.s. Razorbacks won but it wasn't pretty.

Cutting Corn 2013

We made our annual trip on Labor Day weekend to go cut corn. As usual Ross was super excited and decked himself out in John Deere and his rubber boots.

Avery's second year for farming. She was so great!

He got a glimpse of Poppy coming our way on the tractor.

Annual shot. I'll have to get my pictures together for comparisons. We had to start out on the tractor b/c it rained the night befoe and the corn was too wet.

A selfie that didn't turn out the best but we do it every year so here ya go.

After a few rounds on the tractor Avery and I got off. It was pretty crowded with 4 people and Ross needed his space.

Avery and I walked back and she quickly gathered up Uncle Kevin for some walking.

He didn't complain a bit.

Finally time to cut corn! It was awesome! I have no doubt that this year Ross would have ridden for hours.

However, Avery looked like this after a while. With the later start on cutting corn it rolled into her lunch time and nap time. She never did give it up and just take a nap.

Granny

It seems as if we never get many pictures when we go see Granny and I don't know why that is b/c I always have the camera. So I was sure to get some on our last visit. She is 94 years old and so good to the kids. (I will forever remember her with rolled knee socks and think of Mama's Family)

End of the Year Program

So my posts are kind of out of order but that's ok. We are getting back on track. Almost 2 weeks ago Grace at their end of the year program. It is so fun to watch the kids and remember how they acted their first program and see how well they do now.

The 3 Amigos stuck together the whole time.

Ross and Ms. Lois. He still gets to see her every morning and some through out the day. Thank goodness b/c he loves some Ms. Lois!

Good buddies. So glad Josh and Ross have another year together.

Nursery parents had the cutest surprise when our babies came out with their graduation caps. The shocker was Avery actually wore hers almost the whole time.

Love her! Ms. Shannon had already left for her new teaching position so no picture with her at the end of the year. :(

We tried to wrangle the kids for a last picture but that wasn't the easiest and of course Avery made her way to the picture. Please note Marion's princess dress.

We wrapped up the day with a celebratory Cajun Snow. (Ross paid for his own all by himself and was so happy. Thanks Mrs. Tamey for the awesome gift!) This was also the week of 'the balloon'. Avery lost it on this outing though. Boo!

Aves certainly enjoyed every drop.

Fishing and Family

While we were in Grady for the week when Grandad passed away the boys wanted to go fishing. Let's just state for the record that they like the idea of fishing but they don't like the waiting part for the fish to bite so the first fishing trip lasted about 5 minutes and the second trip lasted less than 60 seconds - literally.

Is a trip complete without a silly face? Ross agrees, definitely not.

I'm sure he was giving me directions of some sort here b/c that's what he does best. For those unaware, his new name is Bossy Rossy or more often shortened to Boss.

Oh they caught something - a big 'ol branch!

They needed a chair after about 3.5 minutes of fishing. It's tough work. Luckily I'm always prepared.

I think Grandad would approve with how we spent some of our time and no doubt he'd have been there with us previously and was definitely there in spirit. He probably got a kick out of the boys and their chairs. Too bad he didn't see fit to let them catch a couple of fish.

Grandad 1927-2013

Our Grandad passed away on Saturday evening, August 3. The kids and I had gone down on Friday and left Saturday and enjoyed getting to see him. He was up and around and even went to his garden that day. My heart aches but the rest of me is so very happy for Grandad because he's finally home. Our sweet man probably has the biggest garden and best chickens in Heaven and bless his soul I can hear him laughing and singing. Oh we'll miss him so.

These pictures obviously aren't in order but they are some of my favorite and I think really show how much he loves his family.

He was always good to get in the floor and play. I remember him doing it when I was a kid.

The very last picture we got of him. Don said when he saw it (he wasn't with us) his first thought was Grandad looked like he was praying over her and looking at the other pictures I took in this sequence I 100% agree. He knew it was his time and true to Grandad's style covered her in love and prayer.

Our kids have been so blessed to have met some of their great-grandparents and I was so blessed to have a Grandad as loving. He literally couldn't have been any better. Love him forever and ever.
